If you haven't read the original books (which are absolute classics),
you'll enjoy this movie because it's a great movie. If you're already a
fan of the books, you'll love the movie despite some of the changes
(John Carter was never married before he went to Mars, for one), which
can be overlooked (If you want an almost accurate representation of the
source material, Dynamite Entertainment's "Warlord or Mars" comic series
[along with the excellent spin-offs] is highly recommended. In fact,
it's probably the best comic book out there right now).
